Romanian Orthodox Church blames foreigners and non-believers for our wildly popular Orthodox Calendar 2013!

The Romanian ProTV reported some astonishing news this week. According to ProTV, the Romanian Orthodox Church has discovered the identity of the persons responsible for the Orthodox Calendar 2013. Apparently, the investigation of the Romanian Orthodox Church revealed that the persons responsible belong to an “anti-church movement established in Russia”. Further, it claims that the photos were actually shot in Poland with foreigners who are not members of the Orthodox church.

If this response to label us as foreign agitators sounds familiar, it should. Think of Nicolae Ceausescu’s response to the hundreds of thousands who filled the streets in the days leading to his ouster. Think of Moammar Qaddafi, in his final angry speeches. And think of Bashir Assad, still entrenched in Syria as he slaughters his own people in the name of a “reality” all his own.

As someone has pointed out in a posting in response to the ProTV report, one of our photos contains a sign written in Romanian. So, yes, we confirm that at least one of the photos was taken in Romania. And, yes, the people in the photo are card-carrying Orthodox Church members. The only difference is that — unlike the church hierarchy — these people believe in modernity and freedom and equal rights.

In the meantime, our website was repeatedly hacked last week in an attempt to stop the spread of our calenders. Our team had to work very hard to repair it the past few days. To avoid such a situation and in order to keep satisfying our FANS, we have the calendars on SALE on Amazon UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain sites, as well as by direct orders from us using PayPal (contact us by email for instructions).

Orthodox-Calendar.com suddenly banned from YouTube!

A few months after its launch, the first edition of our Orthodox Calendar has been a smashing success all over the world.

But our success does not please everyone. After tens of thousands of viewings, we suddenly had our preview video for Orthodox Calendar 2013 banned from YouTube and our YouTube account immediately terminated, without any warning! YouTube even rejected our appeal and insists that our video violated Its Community Guidelines.

Our posting had no profanity, no pornography, no hate speech, no nudity except bare buttocks.  It is anybody’s guess how our preview video could possibly violate the YouTube Community Guidelines, which our attorney has reviewed. YouTube has not provided any further explanation.

In the spirit of freedom of speech and honest debate, O-C’s team has already created new links to our banned video: https://vimeo.com/56786221

Is it possible that religious authorities or even governments pressured YouTube to shut us down? Whatever questions might arise about whether or not the persons pictured in our calendar are or are not priests, we first and foremost want to generate discussions, including as to the role of religion in oppressing “undesirable” minorities like gays, corruption & hypocrisy in organized religions, etc.

How ironic that in the same year that Russia — at the behest of the Russian Orthodox Church — imprisoned members of Pussy Riot for exercising their rights of free speech, YouTube decided to quash our right to free speech.

Outside-the-box priests confess their deepest secrets in a different kind of religious calendar.

It is a time when the Orthodox Church is embroiled in corruption scandals, artist repression, gay sex cover-ups, outrageous behavior and homophobia. Yet some of their members have agreed to strike a pose and openly stand for who they are underneath the priest’s clothing they wear: regular people with passions, preferences, interests and desires.

Our homoerotic calendar features shots mingling the edgy with the HOT. This first 2013 edition tells the individual story of 12 intensely masculine young men and their guests representing different parts of eastern Europe. All are open-minded and believe that besides their passionate devotion to the Orthodox Church, it is important to be perceived as individuals committed to diversity and acceptance. And this is what brings them closer to the rest of us.

Starting today, anyone can discover our 12 seductive artistic pictures of Orthodox priests and their guests by simply ordering on-line. The price per piece is only EUR 10!

Images are available directly from our Facebook account. But if you are curious to find out more, you can write to pr@orthodox-calendar.com

Thank you for your support and hoping you enjoy the calendar in the coming year. We will meet again in 2014 with a brand new edition!
